August 6 - Dickerson Park Zoo

The photo club went to the zoo today and had a behind-the-scenes look at a few of the animals thanks to the director, Mike Crocker. It was certainly an unusual opportunity to get up close to several of the animals usually fenced off or behind glass.

Lemur (due to my forgetfullness, I shot this at 3200 ISO!)

Giant Turtle (I don't think he approves of these pictures)

Trans-Pecos Copperhead (headed my way!)

  1. Please tell me this was really behind glass!! This is a scary image! I hope I never see it in real life! :-)

  2. The only glass between me and the snake (I assume that's the image you think was scary!) was in my camera lens! It was a long lens though and objects appear closer than they actually are. That, and Mike was never more than a foot away from the snake and kept it restrained.

  3. Yes, I meant the snake, you are much braver than I. I prefer that glass to be bigger than a camera lens!! Matthew is extremely impressed!
